On the Boards' Studio Supper with Seattle Chef Monica Dimas
On 28 September 2017 we shot photos for On the Boards' season opening Studio Supper that featured Seattle chef Monica Dimas and Belarus Free Theatre's Burning Doors. On the Boards is an important part of Seattle's arts scene and helps create strong community ties in what is a rapidly growing city.
On the Boards invests in leading contemporary performing artists near and far, and connects them to a diverse range of communities interested in forward-thinking art and ideas. The present is exciting and the future even more so.
We love their Studio Suppers, where they invite prominent local chefs to prepare a huge family style meal for a lot of theatre fans. Monica Dimas, the talented mastermind behind Little Neon, Neon Taco, and Sunset Fried Chicken, prepared an incredible menu of entrees and cocktail hour appetizers. After the meal attendees get to meet the chef, hear about the food they've just eaten, learn which organization the chef has selected for donations, and then take in the night's performance. I forgot to write down the organization Monica Dimas chose, but I believe it focused on immigration and immigrants' rights, which was definitely timely and relevant. One of the coolest aspects about the Studio Suppers is that the ticket prices are on a sliding scale that allows people to pay what they can.
