Paul Mauer with Thene Singleton and David Johnson at Capitol Cider
We love Capitol Cider. They are a fixture in the Capitol Hill community, and their downstairs Ballast Bar is committed to offering good live music in a cool, safe environment with awesome food and drinks.
We won't lie, though. It can be a challenging venue for musicians. It's a regular night for the bar, which means you can have tables full of people who are not 100% there for the music. That's not a bad thing. We like the idea that music can add to any occasion. But it can take a few songs for the musician(s) and the crowd to get in sync. That was the case tonight. It took a few songs for everyone to recognize that there was some really good live music right there at the table with them. But they perked up fast.
