Behind the Scenes: A Look Back at 2017 (and maybe a bit of 2018)
I can't remember the exact date that Tony and I started this little project. We met on 12 March 2017 at a Sarah St. Albin, Tobias the Owl, and My Cartoon Heart show at the Sunset Tavern in Ballard. It turns out that we were following the same group of musicians, so we'd see one another at shows, and we'd meet up to discuss photography.
In June we decided to launch Rain City Collective. We shoot a lot of live music, but that's only one part of what we're aiming for. Since our launch, we've helped musicians create promotional content, filmed music videos, interviewed artists, and worked with models. That side of our work sometimes gets buried in the scroll + click world of social media, so I thought I'd pull together a collection of some Behind the Scenes shots from our projects.
It was fun sorting through our photo catalogs and reliving old memories. We're proud of the work we've done and the relationships we've built. It makes us even more excited to see where we can take things in 2018.
(A Note from Scott: You'll notice in these photos that Scott shoots most of the BTS shots. I can't believe I'm passing up a chance at making a "Tony's a prima donna" joke, but I figured I'll stick with the truth. It's because Tony is seriously hitting his stride in terms of linking his creative vision with his skills as a photographer / videographer. There's an important distinction between the two. Watching him work over the past year has given me a better understanding of when photography becomes art. We are going to see some incredible imagery from Tony Hammons in 2018.)
