Single Shout-Out: "Windows" by Lyle
There's a lot to love in the new single "Windows" from the band Lyle. The song is a haunting journey written by Lyle cofounder Lana McMullen. McMullen's voice soars with equal parts passion and precision, filled with sombre tones that echo the melancholic warmth of the track. "Windows" is a textured journey of grieving, sadness, and finally acceptance that is told in a song that is ethereal and cinematic, but also profoundly relatable.
Arthur James is the perfect counterpart for McMullen's vocals, carrying resonant, lower harmonies. James and McMullen blend together beautifully over the wide, symphonic swells of the song, and the breadth of talent of the entire band is on display, with poignant contributions from Leah Tousignant on keys and Natalie Gray on violin. This is another spectacular track from the new band, and adds to their previous releases "Get Me" and "Believe in the Dark". If you're looking for wonderful songs, Lyle is now 3 for 3. Catch Lyle with Erin Rae and the Heartbeets and Lizzie Weber on April 27th at Ballard Homestead.
